A Child’s Love for Christ
Oct 17th, 2007 by michelle
This morning, Grace, our two month old, and I were sitting on the couch together when David, our almost-two year old, ran out of the room.
He came back with the two icons from his room: one of Christ and the other of his patron saint, King David. He took each icon and put it up to the baby’s lips and made a kissing sound.
How sweet!

So sweet!
that is so sweet.
Kids love icons, don’t they? They are so great for explaining our faith visually. Thanks for sharing. So very sweet.
It reminds me of my childhood. Baba and Dede were emigres who left Russia after the Civil War. Dede would lift me up so I could kiss the icons, but, he made sure that I could not bother the hanging lampadi! Baba would tell me stories of the saints, and how some of our family knew some of the later saints. Dede told me one time of how he and some other officers went to liturgy to hear St John of Kronshtadt preach. “There were so many people there, an apple couldn’t hit the floor if it fell from the ceiling”! I particularly remeber a picture of Dede and Baba with St John Maksimovich in China.
Thank you for bring to mind wonderful memories.
