Just For Fun: A Food Meme
Oct 17th, 2007 by michelle
I’ve noticed people doing this for a while and thought I would join in. Mimi has been my most recent inspiration
M- Manicotti. I used to always eat this whenever I went to an Italian restaurant. Now I branch out a little more. I guess that was because we always had Italian food at home, but rarely did we eat manicotti. My dad was born in Italy and every Sunday my Nonna (his mom) would make a huge Italian feast for us. However, she has never made manicotti for us.
I- Instant Oatmeal. One of the most warming breakfasts is oatmeal. My favorite is Maple and Brown Sugar, the Kroger brand. I just found a recipe online for homemade instant oatmeal that I am going to try out. It seems really easy and probably cheaper than buying it (although the Kroger brand is really cheap, sometimes only $1 per box).
C- Chair Tea Latte. Probably one of my all time favorite drinks. But I don’t typically like anything with hot milk in it. When Chai Tea first became popular, I stayed away from it because of the milk issue; however, once I tried it, I was hooked!
H- Homemade Lasagna. I refuse to order lasagna in restaurants because I know that it can never compare to homemade. My Nonna makes the absolute best lasagna. She puts ground beef, ground sausage, and ground veal in her sauce, and always uses fresh mozzarella and ricotta cheeses. It tastes incredible!
E- Eggplant Parmesan- My husband does not like this dish, so I tend to order it when we go to Macaroni Grill. Their’s is great!
L- Lollipops! I love all kinds, but my favorite are Tootsie Pops. But I like the big ones better than the mini-ones. I actually didn’t realize that tootsie rolls are chocolate until about a few years ago. For some reason, I always thought that the center of Tootsie Pops was just its own special flavor- I don’t think it tastes very chocolatey.
L- Lentil Soup. I have been known to eat this almost every day for lunch- even in the summer. My favorite can be found at our local Mediterranean Restaurant- it is amazing!!
E- Eggs, scrambled. As a child, I used to eat eggs all the time. Then, suddenly, I decided I didn’t like eggs. I couldn’t even stand the smell when my parents cooked them in our home. I used to go into another part of the house so that I wouldn’t have to be around the smell. Then in college, I decided to try eggs again and realized that I do like them. Although I only really like them a few ways: scrambled, over hard, and Popeye eggs (hard). I always have to eat my eggs with buttered whole wheat toast and OJ.

We have a lot of food things in common - I also love Eggplant Parm, and my hubby does not, so I order it out a lot. I also only like eggs a few ways, and love lentil soup.
And, who doesn’t love Tootsie pops?
I love manicotti! But haven’t had it in years! You’ve inspired me to give it a go someday soon.
Oh, please share with us some of your fav. lentil soup recipes.
