My Little Man Needs to Have Surgery
Jun 25th, 2008 by michelle
I took David to the ENT (Ear, Nose & Throat) doctor today, and within moments the doctor could see that David needs to have his adenoids and tonsils removed.
Surgery is scheduled for August 7th in the morning. We go back to two weeks, and at that point we will find out everything about the surgery and recovery. Usually doctors wait until children are three years old to do the surgery, but David’s case is so bad that they are doing it as soon as possible.
Also, as soon as the doctor walked into the room, he saw that David’s lymph nodes are swollen and he diagnosed David with acute tonsillitis; so he needs to be checked again in two weeks to make sure that there aren’t issues with the lymph nodes as well (they are probably enlarged because he is sick).
He also noted that David has a speech impediment because the tonsils are pushing up against his palette making it difficult for him to speak. After the surgery, David’s voice will probably sound different and he will be able to speak more clearly— and, hopefully, he will not need speech therapy.
Thank you for your prayers!
