The End to a Great Vacation
Sep 1st, 2008 by michelle
Between our son’s surgery a few weeks ago and our family vacation, I have been absent from posting and reading for a while now.
Our little man is doing much better- back to normal. His speech is improving as well; the doctor said it may take three to four months for him to be completely caught up, but he is making great leaps since the surgery.
Our vacation to Lake Erie with my family was very nice. My parents and sister were able to spend a lot of time with the kids and my hubby and I were able to spend a great deal of time talking in the car and also on our date- we went out to dinner at a vineyard and then played blacklight miniature golf (fun!).
We finished up our vacation week with a trip to Dormition Monastery in Rives Junction, Michigan. We stayed in a hotel in Lansing where we swam in the pool and the boys played basketball, and then we went to Vespers and Matins in the evening and Liturgy in the morning. There was a beautiful meal prepared for anyone who chose to stay after the service and then we walked around the grounds and spent some time (and money) in the bookstore.
More to come soon…

It sounds lovely! I’m so glad your little one is doing better.
I was going to comment about how jealous I am that you got to go to the Holy Dormition Monastery, but I didn’t think that was an appropriate thought to share. So I’m glad you got to go! (It was the first monastery I ever visited, and now we’re in Florida.)
