A Labor Day Meme

I’m a little late, but I thought this looked like fun (found at Charming the Birds from the Trees).
How long were your labors?
I was induced with both of my kids; once due to preeclampsia and the other because she was past due and I had been having consistent/semi-consistent contractions for a week straight. With my son, I was given the pitocin at 7:00am and he was born at 10:28 am (on 10/28- isn’t that neat?). With my daughter, I was induced at 1:00pm and she was born at 4:19pm. Each lasted right about 3 1/2 hours.
How did you know you were in labor?
- The contractions started one on top of the other, and I didn’t have a break in between. He was born about an hour later.
- We had been watching a comedy show on my husband’s laptop, and my husband and mother noticed that I wasn’t laughing anymore.
Where did you deliver?
Our son and daughter were both born in a hospital; although, we switched hospitals for my daughter’s birth and we much happier there.
Drugs?
Besides the pitocin, I didn’t have any drugs. I was given magnesium after my son’s birth because my blood pressure was so high. It made me so drowsy that I didn’t even know he was in the NICU until about three hours after I delivered him.
C-section?
No, even though the first time around they tried to convince me that I needed to have one. But I showed them wrong and pushed him out in ten minutes.
Who delivered?
A doctor delivered both of my babies. But I plan to go with a midwife next time around.

Hooray for you for avoiding a C-section! My last was a precipitous labor too - those are VERY hard. Although, mine wasn’t nearly as short as yours - that must have been a shock for your first.
You are amazing to have pitocin births with no drugs, go you!
