“Money for Jesus” Jar
Sep 5th, 2008 by michelle
In the comments section of my previous post, Emma asked, “What is the little coin jar for?”
The coin jar is a craft that my son and I made together.
Whenever he finds money, he puts it in his “Money for Jesus” jar (that’s what he named it) and then it is to be taken to church.
Here is what we did:
- We went online and found all different icons to print off: Christ, the Theotokos, all of our family’s patron saints, St. George, etc.
- I cut them out and let him use a type of glitterglue/watered-down glue to paint them on to a little jelly jar. (It took a long time for it to dry!)
- I took the lid out of the mason jar, but kept the band, and traced the lid on a piece of cardboard.
- I cut out the cardboard and put a slit in the top for the money to pass through.
- I let my son decorate it with crosses that we also printed from photos online.
- Then I put the cardboard piece back into the band and tightened the lid. (I made it tight enough that my children wouldn’t be able to open it up on their own.)
- Very easy with beautiful results!

Both this and the last idea are great. Thanks for sharing!

Mine are way too old to want to do nifty things like that anymore-but I might make one. So when I find all that change when I am going through the laundry…
Beautiful idea.
This is a fantastic idea. I think I shall have to make one for myself and perhaps use it for crafts in Sunday school. I promise to give you credit!! Thanks for sharing!
This is such a good idea! Wow.
