Charity Begins At Home
Oct 30th, 2008 by michelle
Christina posted her notes from the Women’s Retreat she recently went on, and one item stuck out at me:
Meet everyone unconditionally as they are- our families first. Charity begins at home.
And I wanted to apologize to my dear husband.
Sorry that I am so hard on you sometimes. I’ve always known that you have a difficult time waking up in the morning and are forgetful about everyday things, but that doesn’t mean that I need to throw those things in your face every day. I’m sorry for not showing you the charity that you deserve. I love you very much.
Lord, have mercy on me, especially in my impatience and unkindness.

I can only laugh and say, “me too… me too.”
I know, how many times do I go out of my way to be considerate and kind to others and yet I treat my husband and children in a not so kind and considerate manner. It totally undoes any good I have done. We cannot love our neighbors or even God when we cannot love our own families. It’s a hard lesson. They see us at our worst, don’t they? Lord have mercy!
Every day I pray to become worthy of my dear husband.
