Intensive Chemotherapy Over the Holidays
Dec 11th, 2008 by michelle
As you know, my mom was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in a contained area in her acetabulum (hip bone). With this diagnosis, she should be very sick, but miraculously, it has been contained and has not spread through her body.
However, since the prognosis is bad and there is a possibility that it could spread, it has been decided that she will be having intensive chemotherapy in the hospital for three weeks- starting as early as this Friday. She will be spending Christmas and New Year’s in the hospital. After that treatment, she will be having chemotherapy and probably radiation for 4-6 weeks.
She will not be allowed to have many visitors, especially not children, which means that my family will not be able to see her until she is well enough for us to be around her again.
Please pray for my mom’s health throughout this treatment. She will be very sick and lose all of her hair. She cannot get sick, even a cold, during this treatment because it would seriously compromise her.
I truly appreciate for your thoughts and prayers for my mom and our family.
If you would like, please grab the button on my sidebar and post it on your blog. I will mainly be posting from my other blog for the time being. I would like to eventually merge them… maybe that is going to happen very soon.

Our prayers are with your mom
Please keep us posted. Can you give me the address of your other blog so I can follow along and be reminded to pray? Thanks! Peace of Christ to you.
Nevermind. I got it off the button. I’ll add it to my feed. Blessings.
Lord have mercy and comfort to your Mom during this time. This is hard. Prayers… for your Mom and family…
Michelle,
sending hugs and many prayers to your mom and to you and the family.
The Akathist will be restarted this afternoon and continue daily for her.
Many prayers and much love for all of you, hugs for you. Many of us have been through this with loved ones. It’s hard.
Lord have Mercy, Lord have Mercy, Lord have Mercy.
Michelle,
I am so sorry to be reading all of this and what you must be feeling. I will light a candle for her and add her to the prayer list at our church. I pray that you will all have the peace of Christ. Lord have mercy, indeed.
hi Michelle,
