My mom will be having a surgical biopsy next Wednesday, October 29th.
We do not know the time yet, but she will be staying over night, and the recovery time is about two weeks.
My mom has asked that I not make the trip back (it is a fourteen hour drive). My father and sister will be [...]

We still don’t know what is going on with my mom.
It seems, though, that the surgeon is now leaning towards doing the biopsy with a needle, like last time. However, they will put my mom under anethesia this time.
I’ll let you know when the decision is made and when the biopsy will be.
They got about halfway through the biopsy procedure when my mom’s blood pressure went very low. She was also bleeding too much; so the surgeon decidely to immediately stop the procedure. My mom is now in recovery for the greater part of the afternoon.
The surgeon will be speaking with her doctor to determine what they [...]
The results from the MRI and CAT scans are in: They both found no other tumors in her body.
These are the three possible options for what the tumor is:
infectious process in the bone
benign tumor
cancerous tumor
We are praying for #2. In all cases, she will need some sort of treatment, but it is unclear exactly what [...]
I talked with my dad last night, and he said that the results of my Mom’s MRI showed that her shoulder and rib bones are clear. Good news! It is probably arthritis, but definitely not cancer.
Now we are waiting on the CAT scan results, which will show if there are any soft tissue tumors in [...]

I really haven’t felt up to posting recently. But I did speak to my mom last night and wanted to share with you.
She had the MRI and CAT scans done yesterday. She also met with her internist, who had labs done last week. The internist said that everything with her blood work looks really good. [...]
I was going to add some detail to yesterday’s post and when I logged in to do that, I saw that the post had been written only 15 hours ago. It feels like such a long time since I first heard from my mother. It probably doesn’t help that I was up until 1:30am doing [...]
My mom went to see the orthopedic oncologist today.
This is what we know:
The tumor is IN the bone
The bonescan showed other areas in her body that are “inflammed” (her ribs and shoulder blade)- this could mean more tumors
The tumor is not removeable, which means she will need radiation and/or chemotherapy to shrink the tumor. Removing [...]
My mom called this morning to tell me that they have moved her appointment to today. She is currently with an orthopedic oncologist. It appears that the tumor may be cancerous; so they will be doing a biopsy. I am not sure if that is something that are doing today or scheduling for another day. [...]
